1811: Albuera - 2nd Edition changes
The second edition of "1811: Albuera" and of the "Fix Bayonets!" core rules will features many changes and improvements both in components and game mechanics while keeping the system very close to the original.
Components:
New mounted map (29"x43"). It has been graphically improved for readability (lighter colors, tracks are now separate). This addresses the most common criticism (map too dark) leveled at the first edition. The game scale has now been standardized at 120m per hexagon (play area is thus slightly smaller).
New unit/leader counters. A picture of the soldier now appears on each counter instead of an abstract representation of the uniform. The data is more readable and the pieces are generally of a lighter color.
New markers such as nation specific formation markers are now provided. A unit in column now uses a marker instead of facing a hexside (all facing is now to hex corners). We also simplified and made more legible the disorder and stragglers markers.
New event cards. We introduced a system of event cards that gives the players a random tactical advantage as a compensation for rolling badly. It is a very simple system that adds some flavor to the game.
New player aid charts. They are printed in a more legible font and were made more compact.
New Turn & Tracks mat. Just as the one provided with our "1810: Bussaco" game, the turn clock, cohesion and fatigue tracks, weather and routed units boxes are now located on this separate component to be laid next to the map.
The order of battle displays for each army are now (just like in "1810: Bussaco") printed on separate heavy duty sheets using 1:1 scale for the counters for easier sorting.
Rules & battle booklets have been reformatted with a larger font. The game now comes with 4 scenarios and we expanded our historical and uniform notes.
